I first started showing American Cocker Spaniels in the early seventies, At the time I was breeding Irish Setters and Afghan Hounds, although I still breed Irish Setters my main focus is on the American Cockers.
After a few years of being involved showing cockers for other people I purchased my own dog from the Wongan kennels of Stephnie Rickard in Victoria. Since then I have always owned, shown and bred continuously. My breeding is on a very small scale as I only breed to replace my current show stock with a new puppy when needed.
In 25 years I have bred 9 litters and import 3 dogs from overseas. I have owned and bred 19 Champions to date. Of these 14 carry the Idylewins prefix, this is from 25 puppies bred by me. I have not kept accurate records but have won and bred Specialty BIS and All Breed BIS winners, a Royal Show Runner up BIS, Royal Show Groups and Runner up in Group on numerous occasions at Melbourne Adelaide Sydney Perth and Darwin Royal Shows.
One of my dogs Ch.Idylewins Mac Brat was the Australasian Gun dog of the year in 1987. My aim is to breed healthy typical dogs of outstanding quality and correct size.
