D.A.R.E. Program For Youth The Gosnells PCYC in partnership with Mr. Kelly Morgan of Jishin Academy training solutions has recently received agreement for full funding from the SGIO to conduct a new crime prevention program specifically targeting our youth at risk. This program is known as the DARE Program For Youth. The program provides a definitive process to encourage personal development and behavioural change through the acquisition of specific strategies and tools to promote effective personal decision making. The DARE Program For Youth is about ‘Making Choices’ and the acronym DARE consists of four specific stages: Decide- Act – Reflect – Evaluate. The learning process used to facilitate this 16 hour introductory program encourages inclusive active participation and the size of each group is limited to six only to maximize outcomes and effectiveness. This program has recently received substantial SGIO funding (over $9,000) to conduct 6 programs throughout terms 2 & 3, 2006 for a total of 36 participants aged from 12 - 17 yrs inclusive. Many of these young people will be derived from local high schools, as juvenile justice referrals and from our club community. This program developed and exclusively owned/facilitated by Mr. Kelly Morgan, is also available to sporting, cultural and community groups and primary schools throughout Western Australia. The DARE Program is also available to the corporate and business sector as a professional communication and decision making tool for management, professionals and customer service staff. For more information email kelly@jishinacademy.com.au or write to: Jishin Academy PO Box 63 Maddington WA 6109 for an information pack to be sent out. |

Computer Basics Programs Computer Basics is a program consisting of 15 hours of learning covered over a 5-6 week period. This course is ideal for the computer novice and is reasonably priced at only $75.00 pp. A minimum of six persons are required to commence a program and these can be conducted during office hours, evenings or over weekends. Computer Clubs there are several club options available for the intermediate and more advanced PC user. You may wish to join an existing club or form your own exclusive club of 6-9 members. Clubs range in the number of weeks they operate (6-8 weeks) and cost is relative to the club level ($95-$120). Each Club is supported by an experienced facilitator and we can even create a special club program if you and your friends have a special interest such as: multimedia production; or internet web design; networking systems; building a PC, or just about anything you can think of… Casual User In the tradition of an internet Café the Learning Centre will be available to casual users at our normal PCYC Activity hourly rate – $6.00 per hour. If you book a PC in advance then you can hire a workstation for 3 hours for only $12.00 – now that’s a bargain. The café will initially operate on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 – 9pm and Saturday mornings 9am – 12 noon. These will not be structured learning programs but a centre supervisor will be on site during the hours of operation to ensure a safe and friendly environment. This means that children from 10 years of age can attend without a parent. Centre Hire – The Gosnells PCYC Community-based Technology and Learning Centre is also available for casual hire to individuals or organisations as a computer/training lab - enquire with the Centre coordinator Mr. Kelly Morgan on 0418 903 549. |
