DAISY ANDREWS

"Lumpu Lumpu"
"When I paint I think a lot about my mother and father when they were living in the desert. The policeman brought them in. They were travelling, walking. At Kaningarra people were shot. That is the living place for these old people. Living in the bush they had a lot of tucker.

When I draw my picture I am seeing that country in my head. Looking at those sandhills, flowers, everything was very good. When I am painting I tell my grandkids these stories. I tell them that next time they will come and visit this country.

I like to take these paintings to the city. I want to tell my story for this country. The country for my grandparents and my mother and father. I think hard when I look at my country. I think how I have to paint it. I look and see what to paint."
