MY LOAD WAS SLR RIFLE PLUS 140 ROUNDS, 2 GRENADES, M79 LAUNCHER, 50 HIGH EXPLOSIVE M79 ROUNDS, 30 ILLUMINATION M79 ROUNDS, 2 WHITE PHOSPHOROUS M79 ROUNDS, FIRST AID KIT (TAPED TO BUTT OF M79), 5 DAYS RATIONS, 5 WATER CANTEENS, WEAPON CLEANING GEAR, GROUND SHEET, HOOCHIE (TENT), WEBBING, BACKPACK, BUMPACK, 2 FRONT POUCHES, LETTER WRITING GEAR IN WATERPROOF PLASTIC BAG. WE WORE NO UNDERWEAR & SOCKS WOULD OFTEN ROT OFF. OUR CAMERAS USUALLY REMAINED BACK IN BASE TO AVOID DAMAGE AND WATER - HENCE NOT MANY INFANTRY BUSH PHOTOS. (2 FRONT POUCHES HELD TOGETHER WITH STRING, SHORTAGES OF EQUIPMENT DUE TO BLACKMARKETERS). |
