ProQuest has the advantage of only testing a client's risk tolerance - the level of risk a client is willing to accept - rather than trying to derive an investor profile. Investor profiles bundle together financial needs and psychological needs into one asset allocation, but don't indicate if the asset allocation will ultimately reach a set of financial goals or allow a client to sleep at night. They do not readily facilitate the resolution of strategic mismatches.

Many financial decisions are made in situations of uncertainty, and so risk is involved. Different people are comfortable with different levels of risk. A person's risk tolerance is the level of risk with which he or she is comfortable. By using the ProQuest system, you can obtain an assessment of your risk tolerance. The assessment will guide you (and me) in your financial decision-making.
In the questionnaire, you are asked about your attitudes, values and experiences. Your answers are scored against the system's database and used to produce a detailed report. The questionnaire takes about 15 minutes to complete. The normal sequence of events is to complete a risk tolerance questionnaire, complete a demographic questionnaire and then view the results.
