Hi this page has been added so as you can meet the person who spends the time putting this web page
together and also takes the pictures that you see .
My interest goes back to my early child hood as after the second world war in 1947 my father joined the Tasmanian Government Railways as a porter and worked his way to a guard on the north western lines around Smithton  including the Marrawah Tram and the Trowutta lines all have since closed , So at the age of around 10 I spent most of my holidays riding the rails on all these lines and all the steam engines that hauled them, I joined the service of the  T.G R. as a lad porter 1n 1966 and worked my way to guard and to yard Forman and doing all other relieving

duties along the way till my retirement  in 1998 after 33 years service. While with the T.G.R. and later AN Tasrail I worked on most lines in Tasmania and being one of the only ex guards left ran all the Don River Railways trains for the past 10 years, I have not lost the interest in railways and am now the Vice chairperson  for the Mt Lyell Abt Railway Society who are working towards  seeing this little train run again between Queenstown and Regatta Point.
