It was the good fortune of an Italian Government Scholarship in 1979 that took me to Carrara in Italia that helped set me on my course as a carver of marble. From the moment I arrived in Carrara and my first hammering, chisel biting marble I was in love! Some twenty years on I am still driven with the same unbridled passion to carve!  This ongoing experience [I travel regularly to Carrara] the joy and the struggle of what it means to carve marble has profoundly affected me. To all those who have lived and worked in Carrara: what a brother and sisterhood! You know you are an old hand when you have heard the artigiani shake their heads and remark "un altro con la mallatia del marmo!" .Schips Signature.jpg (8437 bytes)
