Studio Tours
"ARTtour"
An experience that will give
the teacher, student and all interested in the visual arts an inside view of
the workings of a Professional Sculptors Sculptors/Artists studio. Peter is
well known for large scale sculptures of the human figure in marble and bronze,
see works in progress, from initial sketches through to a completed sculpture.
Watch on as Peter gives a demonstration in the art of carving figures in stone
and modeling clay for bronze, volunteers are then given the chisels to have
a go!
From the Studio the tour progress's onto the Gallery to see completed works,
where drawings paintings, sculpture in marble and bronze and many other materials
are on view. A slide show follows with Peter talking about his experiences and
lifestyle, living and working in both Italy and Australia. The
slide show is comprised of images of the famous marble quarries, the studios,
the sculptors from all over the world, the process of carving marble and working
in bronze. Peter and his wife Cinzia have been making annual trips to Carrara
in Italy for over twenty years. The Italian towns of Carrara,
and Pietrasanta are located in the region of Versilia, and it is to this area
that such luminaries as Michelangelo, Bernini and Rodin went to find the marble
blocks for their works. The
ARTtour and slide show concludes with ample time for questions and answers,
and for the participants to take photographs if they wish to.
Why an ARTtour? Peter has found from the experience of speaking to a great number of young people, that what students are really interested in, is the nature of 'possibility", of what they might make of "their lives" and what "they" might do. Peter provides a positive example of following your dreams. He also gives some practical advice in how you go about achieving this. As a result of taking this tour different individuals have indeed gone onto complete degrees in Fine Art and become Artist's. Peter believes that it is very important to mentor young people, to awaken a sense of possibility, achievement begins by simply starting! To this end the ARTtour is an opportunity to experience the power of imagination, and where it might take you!
