A BRIEF HISTORY OF NED CONEY'S DESCENDENTS

Ned has several living relatives.

Ned was eldest of seven brothers:- Ned, Red, Ted, Ed, Jed, Ced and Bruce.
Ned died without producing any little cones.
Red never married, thus no little cones to carry  on the family name.
Ted Coney was most embarrassed by the entire affair over Ned,  to the extent
that he changed his name by deed poll. Research carried out by a team at the
University of Woodygumtree indicates that Ted changed his name to hide his
shameful connection to Ned. He undertook the name of Thad Coney. He has 16
known descendants.
Ed, seeking retribution for the life of his older brother, died prematurely,
filled with lead shot from the barrel of Trooper O'Rourke at the infamous
"showdown at Fosterville". Hence - no children.
Jed turned traitor to the family name by joining the much feared New South
Wales regiment. He was quickly promoted up the ranks, eventually retiring
from the N.S.W. Corps only to enter into politics. He also has many
descendants who carry on the family, but are considered to be on the "black"
side of the family.
Ced left Australia to return to his ancestral home. No further trace of him
has since been recorded.
Bruce stayed on at the family home, supporting his heartbroken mother into
her old age. After her passing, he married and the records show that he had
only one child whom he named Ned in memory of our much beloved hero. It is
believed that the name of Ned Coney has been carried on down through the
generations to this current time. Ned's namesake today lives a reclusive
life in the Axedale district, but numerous attempts to interview him have
failed. He is a true bushman like the Ned of old. Some say the spirit of Ned
Coney lives on to this day!
