FUNDRAISING GAMBLING

GAMING FUNCTIONS

Any club or association may raise funds by gambling with approved games provided the necessary requirements are met.

GOVERNMENT REQUIREMENTS

1. The premises have to be approved by both your local authority and the Gaming Division and fees paid.

2. A "Permit to Conduct a Gaming Function" must be obtained and the fee paid.

3. A Liquor Licence is required or, if licensed, an extension may be wanted.

OTHER ESSENTIALS

Club members may contact ACE GAMBLING SUPPLIES on 9344 2428 to obtain forms; for assistance in filling forms; choosing times; getting customers; running the tables efficiently; for hire or purchase of gaming tables and equipment; supply of licensed croupiers; for free training to run the gaming tables themselves; for notes on making your function a certain success or for any other information.

FIRST STEPS

1. The owner or lessee has to apply for a Permit to use an area in his/her premises for gaming, and the Certificate on the back of the "Approval of Premises" application form must be signed and stamped by the local authority then forwarded to the Gaming Division with the fee - $20 for a single date or $65 for 5 years. The premises may only be used, once a week, for gambling provided a "Permit to Conduct a Gaming Function" is obtained for each function. Some local authorities now also charge a $50 fee.

2. The Club has to submit an application for a Permit to Conduct a Gaming Function and pay the fees: $180 for up to 5 tables, $305 for up to 10 tables or $375 for more. Always apply for six hours - it costs no more.

3. If the premises are not licensed for the sale of liquor, the Club should apply for an "Occasional Licence General".  Fee $25NOTE: The gaming must finish when the Liquor Licence expires.

* Government charges are subject to change without notice.
