Hello, my name is Father Alan Lamb. I am the Rector of Saint Andrew's. I first served in Longreach in 1965, then left to join the Franciscan Friar for 28 years. I was know by the name of Brother Alan Barnabas. I returned to Longreach in 1996.

This is a wonderful parish that covers an extensive area. The towns of Muttaburra, Morella, Ilfracombe, Jundah are in the Longreach Parish. We have over 280 families spread over 2000 square kms.

Longreach is the home of the first Bush Brothers. Many other good priests have served here. Probably the most famous is the Rev. Hulton Sams. He was a priest and boxer who challenged the locals to take up the fight for Christ. A portrait of him hangs in Saint Andrew.

I have served GOD in many places. In the Diocese of Rockhampton I was a Deacon in 1965, Priest in 1966 and, Priest in Charge in 1969.

One of my interesting postings was as Priest in Charge at St. Francis, Kobe, PNG between 1971 and 1975. I was also Priest in Charge at Steeple Aston, England in 1992.

My chaplaincy experience has been in Prisons, Migrants, Hospitals, Blind, Chemically dependent and schools.
