I got started in radio when I read a book on crystal sets and how to make them.
What I like most about VHF+ DX is Working a new QTH, doesn't have to be extreme DX or a new Grid thingummy.
Toughest thing about VHF+ DX is  hearing my amateur neighbours giving 5x7 reports to DX I can't hear.
The best set up I have had for VHF+ DX is Current.  15 ele 2m, 16 ele 70 cm, 380 W SSB 2m, 80 w 70 cm
Favourite station to contact None, I'll work anyone.
Most memorable contact and why VK6HK, band opened for 5 minutes to give me a CW and then SSB QSO into Perth on 2m.
Most memorable propagation opening or condition and why 2m E's, Worked first VK4 on 2m while mobile in Northern Tassie.

What really annoys you High noise level on 2m
I wish I could stop EMC in everynew present my neighbours children give them
Biggest regret Not being able to live on a QTH 400 m asl with no neighbours within a km
I hope I never have to live on the bottom floor of a block of flats in the CBD

Advice to new VHF+ DX'ers Get a good reference book and read up bits of interest 
Future VHF DX goals Work ZL on 2m, anyone on 70 cm aurora or meteor scatter.
Other Hobbies/Interests Snow skiing, bush walking (at a level appropriate for senior citizens), attending MTC productions, travelling to new places.
