| I got started in radio when |
I was in the Royal Australian Navy
and we were carrying out hydrographic surveys and using Radio navigation
systems eg Decca (Hi Fix and Lambda), motorola Mini Ranger, Tellurometer
and Geoceivers (transit System). I then was sent to operate in Vanuatu and
come across USA hams and got really interested- listened to the pacific
interisland nett on 14315 for 18months.On return to Australia I met Wilf
VK4ZNZ who run radio classes and through his great efforts acquired
my license. Since then I have been lucky to become friends with Felix
VK4FUQ, Ray VK4TFT,Wayne VK4ARW,Aub VK4AFO and Dennis VK4JDJ who have
greatly assisted my radio education. |
| What I like most about VHF+ DX is |
that you have to be a bit of a
detective and research Hepburn, watch the sea level pressure charts and
,MOST IMPORTANTLY, be on air. |
| Toughest thing about VHF+ DX is |
that it normally peaks on days I
have to work. |
| The best set up I have had for VHF+ DX is |
is continually evolving eg height,
antenna, feedline etc |
| Favourite station to contact |
Vk4RAT as depending on Rx
strength stations further south may be open. |
| Most memorable contact and why |
VK4FUQ via VK4RSP, Springsure
Repeater 793KMS to the south of my station. |
| Most memorable propagation opening or condition and why |
Unsure |
| People most admired in AR |
The Hams who are on air trying
to get the DX and are willing to help out or have patience when someone is
having trouble in getting trough. The likes of Leigh who are bloody
dedicated to the cause. |

| What really annoys you |
is someone knocking the efforts of
someone else when they couldn't do any better themselves. |
| I wish I could stop |
getting tied up in work things that
take from my own time. |
