Convict and farmer, White Kangaroo Rivulet. Born circa 1787. Sentenced to transportation for seven years in Dublin in March 1818.1 Transported to New South Wales arriving per Bencoolen on 25th August 1819. Arrived in Van Diemen's Land per Admiral Cockburn on 16th September 1819.
Dogherty was granted 40 acres on the White Kangaroo Rivulet in the parish of Staffa, located to the west of William Bignell's grant, and to the south west of William Hopley's grant.
Dogherty was buried at Richmond 13th August 1829 after being killed by Natives at the Coal River. He was a farmer, free by servitude.
A section of Ferniehurst, Brown Mountain, was still known as Dogherty's Marsh in 1847.
