Take a walk down memory lane how it all began in 1966, when an opera singer with a Berlin accent suggested he'd like to be accompanied by Dieter Hauptmann's balalaika group. Their sound was so successful on the gala circuit that the first albums (one vocal, one instrumental) were released in 1967. Other successful vocal and instrumental albums followed in 1968 which led to a concert in the legendary Olympia concert hall in Paris, which spelt the end for the gold winning cooperation. The singer changed the spelling of his adopted first name, settled in Paris, and the instrumentalists developped into the Tschaika Cossacks, who collected a silver medal from the Association de la Musique récréative in Paris in 1970.
