This page is dedicated to all BIG Scale Slope Soarers

1/4, 1/3, 1/2 Scale or Spans over 2.5 meters

To start with, here is my 1/16 scale Boeing 767-200 in QANTAS colours

Approx. Length 3m (118"), Span 3m(118"), Height 1(38)"m. The model's shape is to scale and is assembled from 10 basic units. Nose, Fuselage Center section including Wing center section, Tail, L/H and R/H wing outer panels, L/H and R/H engines, L/H and R/H Main Landing gears and the Nose Landing Gear. Wing uses modified SD6060 airfoil. The stall is gentle and has no tendency to snap. Currently it uses seven JR 507 servos, one for each control surface however Aerotow release and Nose steering are to be added.

Construction = White foam, 3 rolls of Brown paper, 2 litres of PVA glue, 4 litres Water, Carbon tube spars, some thin ply, PVC pipe and 10m of servo wire.

Weight <6kg.

767e1.jpg (3403 bytes) Off into the wild blue yonder

The wind was light and variable up to 10knots

Flew really well. Very groovy

767f1.jpg (3780 bytes) Cruising on its way to some loops, rolls and inverted flight.

Penetrates well and has a good speed range. Signals lift/sink noticeably

767g1.jpg (2651 bytes) Coming in to land. The flaps are very effective 767d1.jpg (4826 bytes) Yeehah!!!!!!!!

Ready to Launch sans engines again. Wind was very light and lift patchy

767j1.jpg (4586 bytes) RUN!!!

Soon after this the lift dropped right off and the model was flown to the bottom of the slope.

Stay tuned for my next project........A 4.3 m (170") span DeHavilland Venom !!!!

Why? Easy to hold for launch
