We live in central Victoria, Australia on a 20 acre farmlet with our Mastiffs, Bullmastiff (Tim), Boston Terrier (Dickie), Clydesdale (Prince) and a cat that most of the Mastiffs are doing their best to make a temporary resident. Occasionally we show our dogs and even more occasionally we breed. We have litters when we consider it is time to produce something to continue our line with. Our dogs are not at general public stud and we will not sell a puppy to anyone we have not met. If you have a genuine enquiry please give us a phone call.

Darkling Mastiffs (Australia) has been around since the early part of 1995 when Janet brought Eng. Ch. Darkling Paddington Bear, "Bear", and Marcolian Mormaer at Darkling, "Gypsy", with her from the UK to take up residence in Australia. We subsequently bred Bear and Gypsy to produce a litter of 4 pups. From that litter we kept an apricot bitch and a fawn dog Champion Darkling Simply Red, "Blue", and Champion Darkling Cockney Rebel, "Rebel", were born in February 1997.

May 2000 saw the arrival of Darkling Maximillian an apricot dog out of Champion Darkling Simply Red by Champion Darkling Cockney Rebel. Max's gregarious nature belies his difficult entrance to this world and hopefully heralds a future of success in the show ring. Max is a happy dog....very happy.

Prior to 1995 Janet was in Partnership with Sue Riddley (Rice) founder of the Darkling name back in the mid 1970's. During that time just 3 litters were bred, offspring from which included Darkling Magic Mistress, Darkling Magic Master, Darkling Eillidh, English Champion Darkling Paddington Bear, English Champion Darkling Finbar of Bredwardine and English Champion Darkling Finn Mac Cumhal of Bredwardine. The aim - always to strive for quality. The level of consistency and success speaks for itself.

We have, between us more than 35 years experience with the breed. Janet is a licensed Utility group Judge having judged in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, soon to judge the Mastiff club of Germany Championship show in June this year.
