Towards the Psalms (2004) 18mins. A cycle of six songs with texts selected by the composer from the novel Fugitive Pieces by Canadian author, Anne Michaels. There are two arrangements of this cycle one for voice and piano, the other for voice with an instrumental ensemble of oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn and piano. Both works may be performed with the option of an accompanying spoken narration. Commissioned by The Brisbane Writers Festival, 2004 for performance by The Southern Cross Soloists with Sally McKenzie, Narrator. The First Performance took place on the 30th September, 2004, Customs House, Brisbane. The work was recorded by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and broadcast 5th January, 2005.
