Innovation Girl Retired
Melissa Boswell - Jozani Consulting 02/03/03

Shortly after finishing 2nd in the G1 Futurity Stakes, flying filly Innovation Girl was found to be lame in her off foreleg.

X-rays revealed that she had suffered a fracture to her off fore canon bone, luckily, the x-rays also showed that the fracture was not displaced. She was immediately given treatment for the pain and was bandaged and restricted to her straw box. She was also immediately retired.

She will have another xray in the next couple of days and then most likely have screws placed into the bone, just to make sure she is as sound and comfortable as possible in her retirement.

She is quite bright and calm, the toughness she showed on the track has put her in good stead for this terrible situation.

She will be restricted to her box until her leg heals enough to allow her to be moved into larger areas, on a staggered program.

The good news, if there can be any in such a situation, is that she will recover and will be able to enjoy her new career as a very valuable broodmare. She will go to stud this spring, with the stallion to be decided in the near future.

Innovation Girl raced only 15 times for 10 wins, 3 second & a third, including dual Group 1 placings, plus $977,900 in prizemoney, her full record is listed below:
