Brian & Maree's Trip to South Africa

Maree & I visited South Africa in July on two weeks holiday in the Sabi Sands area (Kruger National Park) and Madikwe Reserve in Northern South Africa.

I haven't been back there for three years and from a Wildlife point of view in South Africa, things are quite positive. Areas for wildlife have continued to expand and as a result, a bigger animal population.

The best way we feel to help with Wildlife conservation, is to support these wild animals and their habitat by visiting these areas as a Tourist.

South Africa is a very beautiful country, and quite safe if one travels through a reputable travel agency. It has a very interesting cultural and military history as well.

On this site we have included a few photos of our recent visit.

LEFT - A leopard checking it's 'kill', an Impala Antelope, as dawn breaks at Nkoro in the Sabi Sand Reserve in South Africa. The cat carries the kill up into a suitable tree away from other predators and scavengers.

We were lucky enough to witness this leopard make this kill the nigh before on a night drive with a spotlight.

LEFT - A close up of the leopard, you can see the leg of the impala hanging down from the tree in the top left hand corner of the photo.
RIGHT - The same leopard on her way down from the tree hiding her kill on a beautiful African morning
LEFT - A group of lionesses going out to hunt in the early morning at Madikwe Reserve, Northern South Africa. Although they are not all visable, there were egiht cats in this pride.
LEFT - 5 of the 8 lionesses highlighted
LEFT - 'Feeling Good' in Africa with a group of elephant in the background. This is at Madikwe Reserve, which is 'dry' country and is classed as part of the edge of the Kalahari Desert.
