CLUB PROFILE

The Club is affiliated with The Victorian Sub District Cricket Association and is the senior turf club in the northern suburbs and the adjoining local area. The VSDCA is the second highest grade of cricket after Premier/District Cricket in Victoria.

Our club now boasts 4 senior turf sides and a rapidly growing junior club with teams in all grades. Our players come to our club from many different suburbs such as the local Glenroy/Pascoe Vale area, Taylors Lakes and Roxburgh Park to Sunbury, Oak Park to Craigieburn and Jacana.

Sponsors are all from the local area and we pride ourselves on putting something back into the local area and economy at all times.

The Broadmeadows Cricket Club offers many things to potential players and social members. Some of the facilities are as follows that are enjoyed regularly by all at the club -

• A playing surface that is one of the best in the local area. The turf wicket is often a very good batting pitch that allows players to get value for their shots and also offers the bowlers support if they strive to succeed. Our facilities are often complimented by all who play at the club.
• A social/clubroom that offers everything that is required to players and supporters alike with a full bar, kitchen area, fully glassed in viewing area, separate change rooms, pinball machine, table tennis tables and many other features. Meals are often available after training and games.
• Turf practice facilities.
• Synthetic practice facilities.
• Ball machine use.
• Expert coaching on batting, bowling and fielding.
• Regular organised training on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season.
• Regular social functions including Xmas functions with over 100 children per year in attendance over the last few years.
• Annual junior development squad with full coaching given and feedback to all parents and players.
• Strong affiliation with local cricket clubs and Premier clubs such as Essendon.
• Links to all representative squads in the area. The Victorian under 17 chairman of selectors has been involved with our junior development squads.

The club has had much recent success with the 1st X1 playing off in recent grand finals and the other grades playing in finals recently. Importantly we have fostered junior development and ensured our developed players are nurtured and encouraged to play Premier Cricket as a representative of our club. We have had 3 players recently play 1st X1 cricket at Essendon Cricket Club that have been from our club.

Our club offers opportunity to players at all levels from 1st X1 to 4th X1. We welcome new players and in the last two years we have had at least 12 new players each year join us. All of these players have been welcomed and have all performed on the field and enjoyed off the field activities as well. Many of these players have played in the local area for long periods and have joined our club to play at a higher standard and to push themselves. Our club gives many in the local area this chance.

Our hard working committee ensures that the club is managed well off the field so as the on field performances can be at their optimum. Having a committee that wants to put their hand up and contribute is a full battle in many clubs. Our club has a stable committee that provide full support to all players and members.

Feel free to join us at the club at any time or join us at training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm during October to March.
