Strathewen Angus is a small, high quality stud
on the outskirts of Melbourne, producing about 60 outstanding performance
calves each year plus substantial quantities of top genetics embryos
and semen.
We breed the high meat quality primarily for Long Fed
Japanese and CAAB markets but our cattle also perform very well on the
Short Fed, Grass Fed and Terminal $Indexes, giving purchasers great
flexibility to meet fluctuating market conditions.
We place great emphasis on the quality of our cows.
We purchase outstanding females from leading Australian and US studs
and the Strathewen herd consists entirely of these cows and their daughters.
Most of our calves are by ET from these females. We cull at least half
of our females every year and keep only "the best of the best".
Our calves are the result of 30 years of intensive
female selection and 15 years of AI and ET with proven, world class
sires.
Our herd is MN2 for Johne's Disease.
Our herd is also fully tested for AM (Curly Calf).
