I
have only got as far back on my O'Keeffe line to my Great Great
Grandfather Richard O'Keeffe whom migrated to Australia on the 'Queen Bee' which
departed Plymouth on 20/12/1860 and arrived in Sydney on 31/3/1861, Richard was
sponsored by a 'Luke Halpin'. On the shipping sponsors list to
Sydney, he is said to come from Duagh, Co Kerry but on his death certificate, he
was said to come from Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick. Apparently Duagh and
Abbeyfeale are only divided by a river, so the proximity of the two locations is
very close anyway. On a birth certificate of one of his children, it states
he was born in Kalmainham which could be Kilmaniheen/Kilmanihan which is very near
Abbeyfeale.
