Internal threads or Riley patented bottles were a popular bottle of choice with the aerated water makers around the 1900’s-1950's for there obvious benefits.
Riley’s sales pitch was:
They were the only successful screw top bottle for Minerals yet introduced.
The initial cost was no more than other patented bottles.
His stoppers were made or vulcanite, not wood, so no shrinkages or swelling
And you would save on breakages, being the strongest bottle on the market.

Riley's are very popular with collectors in Australia, most of early Australian Riley’s are made of nice thick glass with nice bold embossing, some bearing fantastic trade marks
