Trade Marks

Trademarks on bottles can be simply looked upon in modern terms as may be a logo or mark on goods. These Registered trademarks were designed to distinguish a maker's goods from another. It also offered lawful protection against competitors wanting to take business away by using a similar trademark. Some opted not to register their trademarks maybe to save money.

In Australia trademarks were registed separately in each state, then in 1906 the "Australian Commonwealth" took control of all trademark registration.

Some Cordial makers designed elaborate trademarks to promote and distinguish their drinks, this bottle displaying "The Biblical Moses"striking the rock, with a fountian water of cushing from it.
