Profile:

Christ the King is a school where our faith and learning are integrated into our daily school lives.  Since 1973 the school has served the parish community and attained a strong reputation for the faith development and academic excellence of the child and for the partnership in education between home and school.

The school was originally run by the Sisters of the Holy Faith.  It now has about 400 boys and girls in 14 classrooms from Kindergarten to Year 6.  We are a systemic school of the Catholic Education Office in the Diocese of Parramatta.  Christ the King is blessed with a strong community spirit.

Our Mission:

Our mission document states our shared aim of developing the whole child through religious instruction, the pursuit of excellence in all Key Learning Areas (ie. Mathematics, English, Science and Technology, PE/Health/PD, Creative and Practical Arts and Human Society and its Environment) and the development of skills for living in positive interaction and partnership between students, parents, teachers and pastors.

The children are our priority and the centre of our school.

Parents & Friends Association:

Our parent association is a dynamic, active and dedicated group which strives to provide the children with a school that is well maintained and well resourced.  It is a school where parent involvement is obvious and integral to the school's mission in education.  Parents are invited to participate closely with teachers and they play a vital role in the education provided at Christ the King.

Programs:

Pastoral Care - Our school beliefs express out faith in the dignity of each person.  We hold each one in high esteem, teach them to respect each other and nurture their love of others.  We utilise many opportunities to make our school community a very caring and supportive environment in which to live, learn and teach.

Student Enrichment - Students are challenged and extended through stimulating classroom programs which cater for the individual talents and abilities of the children.  Creative and critical thinking skills are especially promoted in the teaching curriculum.  Our students also engage in various extra curricula activities to extend the children's abilities and skills, such as - Voice of Youth (public speaking), sporting competitions, choir eisteddfods, co-operative camps, etc.

Library/Learning Centre - Our new library, extensively equipped with computers, excellent literature and resources, is co-ordinated by a qualified teacher/librarian.

Music - Our specialist music teacher enables all classes to have weekly lessons and provides a wide range of musical experiences.

Sport/Physical Education - Our specialist P.E. Teacher provides a program to develop a variety of skills and, in co-operation with a grade teachers, enables the children to participate in an extensive program of activities.

Teaching Learning Centre (Special Education) - As part of our literacy program, we offer a specialised Literacy Support program to our children.  Our Special Education Teachers provide individualised educational programs to selected children to assist with their learning difficulties.
