Heritage Lodge

Heritage Lodge provides guests with the opportunity to escape from the realities of daily life into an area that boasts the World Heritage listed lush wet tropical rainforests and a gateway to our Great Barrier Reef. With only twenty cabins our guests numbers are limited. During your stay with us you are free either to 'do it all' or you may prefer the quietude of the bubbling waters and crystal clear swimming holes of Cooper Creek. Four wheel drive safaris, reef trips and guided rainforest walks are all available from Heritage Lodge.

Where is Heritage Lodge?

Kingfisher We are located about 2 hours drive north of the Cairns airport (taking into consideration a little leisurely sightseeing on what has been described as one of the most beautiful coastlines drives in Australia). The cosmopolitan village of Port Douglas is located half way between Cairns and the Daintree. Driving north through Mossman you will cross the Daintree River by river ferry. We are 18km north from here bordered by Cooper Creek, Thornton Beach is 5 min drive away and the beaches stretch on from there .....

Style of Lodge

Bedroom at Heritage Lodge Heritage is a boutique cabin style rainforest resort set onto Cooper Creek and adjoining Cape Tribulation National Park. We are located at the base of the majestic Thornton Peak with the famous Alexandra Falls a two hour hike from the Lodge.

Located north of the Daintree River, there is no mains power supply so we are independently equipped with two generators which run twenty four hours a day.

There are only twenty cabins all fitted with en suite bathrooms, Queen size beds with various configurations, hair dryers and private verandahs. The rooms are naturally ventilated with fully screened timber louvered windows and ceiling fans. Now also, we have just recently air-conditioned each cabin for your convenience and comfort. Tea and coffee making facilities, and a minibar are provided. Naturally, all of our rooms are serviced daily. The style of décor is based on the theme of wood wicker and iron ... simple ... yet elegant ...

The restaurant and bar

Pool and resturant areaHeritage Lodge boasts a fully licensed restaurant and bar whose fine food and fine wines were recognised by Gourmet Traveller in the Annual Guide for 1999. The a la carte licensed restaurant and bar overlook the resort pool and Cooper Creek, offering fine dining in a dense rainforest atmosphere. If you are lucky, extra guests may also visit you at night, such as bandicoots and wallabies. A light tropical breakfast is included in your tariff while both lunch and dinner are served a la carte. How do I get to Heritage?

We recommend hiring a car for the greater flexibility if offers for exploring the area. Car hire rates are very competitive in Cairns and Port Douglas and most companies are happy to let you drive a conventional car to Heritage as the main road is sealed to our turn off. Please be sure to advise your car hire company where you intend to take your vehicle as some companies have yet to assess their Daintree River policies. We recommend to you Network Rentals (offices in Cairns and Port Douglas), Thrifty, Avis and Budget car hire companies.

Should you wish to explore the Bloomfield Track a Four Wheel Drive is required.
