INFORMATION FOR COUNTRY VISITORS

How can I arrange surgery before I came down from the country.
You should visit your general practitioner and obtain a referral to Dr Phillips. Your doctor may be able to telephone or fax Dr Phillips with all the information of your condition.

For relatively straight forward procedures such as hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystomy, removal of melanoma where no pre-operative tests are required , you may be able to arrange an appointment to see Dr Phillips one day and be operated on the next.

You will need to inform the receptionist that you are making a tentative booking subject to Dr Phillips approving your operation once you have come to Brisbane. The receptionist will send you all the hospital booking forms.

The time before you can return home will depend on the type of surgery and Dr Phillips will advise at a later date. For hernia surgery you should be able to travel within two or three days.
