Springvale, called many things, but basically home to many.
And contained within that suburb are people from many nations, not just the Vietnamese
who seem to have gotten a bad name despite their love of having a good time at a certain
time of the year, one month after our new year's celebrations.
Also numerous in the area are the Chinese, Cambodians, Islanders like Maoris and Samoans,
plus very tall and colourfully dressed Africans.
Springvale Shopping Centre (the newer, more plastic one on Springvale Rd) pre-Xmas 2004.
Far from perfect, has its fair share of typo's in prominent places.
Sat 6th Feb 2005, Springvale Tet Festival. This carpark, usually the scene of chaos and unbelievably
bad driving, now the scene for fun for the whole family!
More rides etc.
We took our friends Shaun & Katy, reluctant at first, but soon into it.
More crazy S. E. Asian kids than you could poke a stick at, where did they all come from, not
Springvale of course? No I didn't go on the crazy ride...
And some of these kids seemed to be having 'fun' with cream of some sort. It got stuck in their
mohawk mullets. Someone needs to tell me what this is all about, so I can avoid it.
One week after Tet, lots of firecrackers and 2 dragons
If its Yum Cha you're after, you can't go past Gold Leaf restaurant; just check out the size.
Quyen on Springvale Rd sells the best clothing, shame I haven't seen anyone wearing it lately. Damn...
We have many Buddhist temples, this one is next to the train line.
And the Greek church is next door.
Kyoko with her favourite Pho at our favourite Thanh Dat restaurant, never disappoints.
My favourite weekend breakfast of Nem Nuong roll and Ca Phe Sua Da iced coffee. Yum.
And then there's always funny-named shops like 'Ching Ching'!
