Welcome to the Doklao Korat website.
Rosie gave birth to 4 kittens on the 20th August, 2008.
Mum and babies are doing well.
Our names are Eva Krynda and Jose Escoriza, and our small cattery is located in the inner west of Sydney, Australia.

We have been breeding and showing Korats under the Doklao prefix since 1994. Our Korats are very much part of our family and have access to a large enclosed outdoor garden. We have two or three litters of kittens a year that we raise inside our home and underfoot. Our Korats are provided with a clean and stimulating environment, quality food and veterinary care along with lots of love and human company. We breed for good health and temperament and so that others may experience the joy of being owned by a Korat. We also work with breeders around the world to preserve and promote the Korat breed to the public and for showing.

Our association with Korats started in 1992 with our first Korat neuter 'Ziggy'. We wanted a companion for our then ageing toy poodle 'Monty' who had grown up with our family cat 'Smokey'. While looking for an outgoing breed of cat we saw an advertisement for Korat kittens. At the time our only knowledge about the breed was gleaned from information in cat books. Not long after, we met the little ball of steel wool and it was love at first sight. A delightful and playful boy, Ziggy's antics never failed to amaze us. He had a true Korat temperament - mild, with a will of iron! Ziggy was not afraid of anything and was convinced that he could do anything he had not previously been told not to, adapted quite easily to new situations, and had good self confidence. Playful, loyal and affectionate, Ziggy became good friends with Monty, our poodle. His premature death left a huge hole in our lives and a determination to learn more about this rare and little know breed.

We acquired our first Korat queen Rursai Dtook Ga Dtah (Zoe) in October 1993. Zoe was nine months old at the time and a bit more reserved than Ziggy. She soon made friends with Monty and taught us everything, and more, about Korats. We had our first Korat litter in January 1994 under the Sommerglen prefix. The six kittens were a delightful introduction to the world of breeding. We kept a neutered male kitten from this litter as a companion for Zoe, and for showing. Sommerglen Yu Lin, or 'Wiggy', was a wonderful pet and a successful show cat, before his untimely death in 1999.

Zoe had eight litters of kittens from 1994 - 2002 and gave us our beautiful queen 'Bella Blu'. Zoe's kittens introduced many people to the wonderful world of Korat companionship and we have made many friends in the process. Some of Zoe's offspring have also won awards and titles at cat shows and for this she was awarded a Certificate of Distinguished Merit by the NSW Cat Fanciers Association. Sadly, Zoe died in November 2004 and while we continue to miss her calm presence in our lives, we know that her legacy lives on through her offspring both in Australia and abroad.
Now let us tell you a bit about our current Korats:
DOB: 7th March 1997

Bella is now retired from showing and breeding but she remains the clan matriarch and a bit of a warrior princess. She has an opinion about everything and everyone and tries to be boss cat. She is a very striking and beautiful cat with prominent green eyes and beautiful Korat expression. An affectionate loving and chatty girl Bella loves to be the focus of attention. She was an excellent and caring mother who had eight litters of kittens between 1998 -2005. Bella won many awards at cat shows including Best Group Three Female (Ring 3) at the CCCA National Show 2001. She has been featured on TV and in magazines. Bella continues to share her life with us as a much loved pet.
Gi-Gi is a very elegant and well proportioned girl with a sweet expression and a very short and silky coat. She always tried to be first at the door to greet any visitors and was a happy, outgoing and friendly cat. Gi-Gi had five litters of kittens and was a wonderful mother with her own kittens as well others including our little resue kitty Lucky Star. She had a very successful show career winning many awards including runner up Best Shorthair Female at the Sydney Royal Easter show 2004, and Best Group 3 Female (Ring 2) at the St George Show 2005. Gi-Gi was retired from breeding and showing in 2007 and now lives with her offspring Seni and her new adoptive family, Andrew and Anya. Gi-Gi was bred by Elaine Vincent of Ratchasima Korats.

BB at 11 months old, and with her friend, Tia.
B-B, as we call her, is Gi-Gi's daughter. She is a very social and energetic kitten with a lovely expression and short and silky coat. She loves climbing and playing with water and doing the mad kitty chase with her two best mates 'Tia' and 'Rosie'.
Rosie is Bella's daughter. She is a social girl who enjoys spending time with her daughter Tia and with B-B .Rosie is a very cuddly and affectionate queen and loves any games that involve toys. She can be a little reserved and shy around strangers until she gets to know them. Rosie enjoys her kittens sharing the mothering role previously with Gi-Gi and now with B-B. She is a beautiful Korat girl and has done well in cat shows. Some of Rosie's significant show wins include 3rd Best Female (Ring 1) Sydney Royal Easter Show 2006, Reserve In Show at the Exotic Cat Club of Qld Show 2006 and Best Female Cat , Ring 1, at the 2007 St George Show.
DOB:12 November 2007

Tia at 8 months old
Tia is Rosie's daughter and a very special kitten as she was the only kitten in the litter and carries many of the original Australian Korat lines. When she was four weeks old B-B joined the family and they have been inseparable ever since . Tia is always busy and on the go inventing new games and getting up to mischief. She has a lovely short coat and sweet expression and loves to meet and greet visitors.

'Lilyput ', as we like to call her, came to us from
Yindee came to us in 2002 from Professor Bill Gustafson, Nebraska, USA, as part of a line exchange to introduce new blood lines into our Korat gene pool. He is a regal and charming boy with a gentle disposition. He enjoys being around the girls and watching kittens at play. Yindee has a strong and muscular body, an expressive face with wide set luminous green eyes. He has sired some very beautiful kittens, including Rosie.
Micky is a British Blue boy and not a Korat. He is a vasectomised male cat that the girls visit in between litters. He is a sweet and gentle boy who really enjoys his brushing sessions. We think that he is learning to speak Thai Korat as he often has long chat sessions with the Korat clan.
