Welcome to the Tadala and Fairyfloss website.

My name is Dottie Thompson-Dearn and I love cats, especially Himalayans (colourpoints). My first introduction to the himmie was in 1959 when my parents returned from a cat show in Portland Oregon with a long haired Siamese spay kitten…. Of course she was a himmie. I noticed that her personality was different from my parent's Siamese cats and she was not as vocal…..my parents would not let me take her when I got married so I bought my first Persian in 1965, an orange-eyed white female named Missie.

When I immigrated to Australia in 1997 I had to leave my pets in the USA (my two cats were both 22 years old) as the travel would have been too hard on them….so I did what any cat lover does--- I went looking for a cat . After 6 months I found two himmie females that I could buy. Neither is in my current breeding program but are much-loved pets that sleep in our bed. I was very lucky when Hazel McManus offered to co-own Takatsu Will Scarlett with me. I learned so much from Hazel about breeding and showing. I also bought Takatsu Pumpkin Patch to start my breeding program. I am constantly improving my breeding program and now have several different lines that blend well together. My policy is to keep improving the health and type of the Himalayans by not breeding with any known genetic problems. All of my breeding cats have been scanned for PKD and I am now in the process of DNA testing for PKD. The silver-himmy cross is a sideline of my breeding program. Any cat with the Fairyfloss prefix has a visual silver parent and could be silver. Tadala cats do not have a silver parent and are not silver.

Teaze is Myriddan Stripeteaze
Blue tabby point female

I have been blessed with many friends in the cat fancy; Anne Lees is my friend and mentor. She sold me my first tabbiepoint, Myriddan Stripteaze. Teazie has been the foundation of my breeding program for the past several years and I have several of her daughters in my cattery. Though her lines I have developed wonderful type and expression. Anne told me when I bought Teazie that tabbies could take over my life and they have. I have been privileged to have several Myriddan tabbies live at my house and produce wonderful kittens for me. I breed for breeder quality kittens and welcome inquiries from other breeders. I do not sell to homes that want to make monies from breeding but love to encourage anyone who wants to better the breed. I do have quality kittens that are placed as pets at reasonable prices. Adults are sometimes available for the cost of desexing to quality forever homes.

Thank you for your interest in Himalayan Persians….feel free to call and chat…If you are looking for a kitten to love, call me…If I don't have what you are looking for - one of the other Himmie breeders will have one. I would be happy to connect you with them.
