FIRST A BIT OF HOUSE KEEPING!
We have used the SIGNATURE FONT for part of the text in our address section at the end of this
site's pages. We have found that it is not necessarily available on all PC's. The file is only
39kb and by RIGHT MOUSE Clicking HERE! and selecting 'Save Target
As' you can download it. Once downloaded simply place it into your Windows/Font directory,
usually found in your C Drive or just save it directly to the Font folder if you know how to.
The next time you visit it will work. The font may not take effect until you have actually
restarted your PC so don't do it now or your present connection to the net will close. This is
only a minor cosmetic change to what you are seeing anyhow but the font is a good running
writing font you may find useful in your word processing program!?
BRIEF BUSINESS HISTORY
Welcome to Steve Ellery Screen Printing web site!
Steve Ellery worked for a well known Sydney based Screen Printing company for in excess of
10 years since leaving school in the late 70's. He worked his way up to a print supervisor
and had a dozen or so staff in his control.
He made a very big decision to go out on his own when Australia, and the world, were deep
in an economic recession and even without this against him it is well known that up to 90%
of established small businesses were in the high risk category for failure. A few years
after leaving his grass roots the firm he had started with folded, unfortunately. This,
however meant that he had made the right decision for his future long-term employment.
The business, a family one, with his wife (Sonia), Mum (Merriel) and Dad (Des) as partners started up in a backyard
shed with a bit of ink, few silk screens, guillotine, 2 print presses, phone and fax and no
customers!
Not too bad a start except for the no customers part! In a short while they were up and running
and had retained a couple of largish clients and many other small business clients gave them a go.
With the help of his brother-in-law, Oliver an ex-truck driver now printer (and ending up a very
good one) they were becoming increasingly kept busy. His Sister, Susan, helped out when busy also.
Soon he needed more help and put on an apprentice, Jason. A little further down the track the girl
over the road, Linda, helped out until she moved house. (She is actually back with us as a four day a
week permanent casual / part-timer). Several years on and Steve's brother, John, came on board after
being retrenched like thousands of others in industry today. He works as a part-timer 3 days a week
with extra days as required.
Not long after the staff scenarios above, after some 5 years or so, Steve realised the business needs
to expand. He always wanted to be small but difficult to hold back natural progression completely.
July 1997 we had moved into the factory premises at Ingleburn. In October 1999 we looked like
growing out of the unit!
99% of our work is third party and all word of mouth, at least up until posting this web page 22nd
October 1999. We are not even listed in the phone book yet we are still going strong after almost 9 years!
Merriel and Des are looking to
retiring in the near future and possibility Sonia may fill the gap. (She has been busy with her 4 children
these past few years).
It's October 2000 and in past few months Linda has sadly left us (to have her second child and may come back a few days a week eventually) We have continued to keep very busy. Mum and Dad have now officially retired (sorry to see them go although Mum comes in every Wednesday to help out and you occasionally see dad around if he is not busy at home or at work at a local plant nursery!) Sonia now comes in two or three days a week and does the accounts etc.
Also since being at Ingleburn Jason left us to further his career to another local screen-printers, Chris just didn't turn up back for work one day (don't think he actually liked a decent days work, and after we helped him out with a job!?), we had to put off 2 trainees as they unfortunately did not suit screen printing and of course as previously mentioned Mum and Dad retired and Linda is increasing her family size! Ian another trainee eventually left us due to family committments.
The only other progression in our business occurred on the 1st October 2000 when the firm of Steve Ellery Screen Printing became a proprietary limited company of Steve Ellery Screen Printing Pty Ltd and during 2002 we needed more space for another print machine and storage so now renting a factory unit in the same complex.
Some of the above is now history and with basically only minor changes the current staffing scenario we have is 10 permanent & permanent/casual staff - Steve, Sonia, Oliver, John H, Roy, Jimmy, Grahame, John E., Craig and Brent.
Sonia did take a little time out around September 2002 for a while to have a 5th child, a boy, Lachlan, with her spot temporarily being looked after by Lyndall (the girl that helps us with some of the Accounts now and then). We don't see Mum or Dad at work now, apart from the occassional visit, as they are finally enjoying retirement!
It would be remiss if the customers that gave us a go and stuck by us were not acknowledged -
THANKYOU!
WE SPECIALISE IN, BUT NOT LIMITED TO .......
We can print in straight colours, mixed colours or even 4 colour process
for the following:-
Note uses are samples / ideas only extracted from jobs we have done.
Locality is not a problem. All we ask is the chance, via a quote, to show you we are usually competive in many facets of our trade. We have done work for overseas clients on occassions. (even without the relative new technology of the net!)
NOTE:- as of October 2002 we regret we no longer do quotes for overseas but are solely concentrating on work within Australia. This is mainly a logistical and workload decision only. Sorry for any inconvenience.

for all types of advertising.
Screenboard style displays for use on shop counters etc.
Product is usually displayed with or near the advertising boards.
Paper type displays. can be rolled up and reused again.
Used where waterproof and / or where much more durable applications
are needed. Various uses, you may have seen them on those wire fences from hire firms.
Very strong material although extremely light in wieght. Paper thin but
very hard to distort or tear this product. Banks often get travellers cheques in them as can't
be torn open easily. Also used as labels on linen, quilts and the like as durable even after
washing.
Shop isles often filled with these plastic advertising signs stuck to shelves
etc and hanging down "wobbling" with the air movement.
Similar functions to a sticker without the glue! Product vinyl based but is reusable.
Main use is on glass or similar materials where it electrostatically adheres.
For the more expensive, but professional and different syle of business card. Also for
general advertising signs but very strong product.
Non-permanent tatoos mainly used for promotions and advertising as handouts.
Many other styles and products that can be printed on. we have printed on book binder
spines and fronts, cricket bats, swimming caps etc etc. These more out of the norm jobs have to be looked
at closely to ensure screen printing is the way to go to get a good job for the client but willing to assist
