Smooth Talk

While my desire to own and breed smoothes goes back to the early '80's, I only finally managed to breed my first litter with them in 2001. I had seen the dog I used "Nishapur Kahin Boz" as a pup in photos so to find him living practically on my doorstep with a friend of mine here in Perth, was cause for excitement.

After 2 failed attempts to breed to Boz - 3rd time lucky it was. The 3rd bitch I tried was my homebred SBIS winner Ch Farousi Tarifa.. . . . As this final success was following a goal set so long ago, in plans with a now deceased friend, this litter was named under our original 'smooth' prefix "Elbahrani". It is the ONLY litter bred under this prefix, and is my tribute to my late friend and marks a turning point in my breeding career.

The first litter produced 4 smoothes - all boys. There were also 3 feathereds. The Irish marked, feathered girl Elbahrani Xklusiv Tabu, went to the US as foundation bitch for the "Uluru" kennel name of Kim Stewart currently in North Carolina.

I kept an Irish marked, cream/gold smooth boy - known as "H" or Hooch. Here he is below at age 4 yrs and 6 months. He is registered "Elbahrani Xalted Ozihero". He hated shows, so didn't go too often.

Another Boz and Tarifa son - Sam - [Aust Ch. Elbahrani Xplorer Samawi] lives now with Vera Farr of Cazadores Salukis here in Perth. Sam has not yet proved himself as a sire, and only came to regular showing on maturity. He is handled at the shows by Graham Ellis, and they make a great pair. Sam completed his CHAMPION title in April 2008.
