Bibliografia

Born in Olot (Spain) in 1958, Gabriel Planella grew up in this city and attended university in Barcelona . He has studied Journalisme and completed a degree in Catalan and Spanish Literature. As of 1998 he is based in Sydney.

He has published five collections of poetry. One of wich, Hemisferis (1995) was partially written on a stage in Sydney. In 1996, he won an award from the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes to write a new book of urban poetry, wich was set and written in New York. His latest book of poetry is Mescal (Barcelona, 2001). Both of them have had a real succes in terms of critics and readers.

In addition to his poetry, he has translated Les Murray, Charles Dickens and Sia Figiel (cotranslation) amongst other authors. He had been a literary contributor to the Spanish newspaper ABC, to the Catalan Avui and publisher of the literary magazine Lletra de Canvi. Currently he works as a journalist freelance for the Spanish Newspaper El Pais. As of 2001 he is also the Director of the Barcelona International Poetry Festival held annually in May.
