The Isuzu Bellett GTR, 117 coupe and Wasp
The GTR Every manufacturer produces a car that is regarded as top of the range for the time and the most desirable for lovers of the marque. In the case of Isuzu, the Bellett GTR would have to fit the bill. With its 1600cc DOHC engine fed by twin Solex carburetors, it produced about 120hp and a top speed of 190kph. With its front bumper-ettes, orange paintwork, black bonnet and side stripes, it surely looked the part too! Only 1069 were ever made though. Tom Amos' nice orange 1971 example features here. It is the only one of it's type in Australia and has been fully re-built and is now fitted with a 2000cc DOHC instead of the original 1600cc DOHC engine and has some other tweaks to the suspension etc. Tom Amos's orange GTR, fitted with 2000cc DOHC and twin Webers
Here is a white sample from a model makers kit.
The Isuzu WASP & Bellett Express Bellett Express wagon. Not sold in Australia
Wasp ute (pickup)
This is a standard Isuzu Wasp ute (pickup), unrestored, belonging to Craig Robinson
This is a fully modified Wasp owned by Brett Wild. It has a 2000cc DOHC engine, Webers, 5 speed, Rodeo discs etc. Note the "STUNG" number plates. The Isuzu 117 coupe This green 117 coupe is from Sydney. There are very few 117's in Australia, probably less than 10. Those pictured here and a gray one, are the only ones I have ever seen.
