Main Treatment Chamber
The chamber is a two compartment Comex 1800 and was manufactured in Singapore in 1977 for the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). Townsville general hospital currently leases the chamber and this agreement will expire on the construction of our new facility, due for completion in 2001. Once completed, the new chamber will be the largest in Australia.
The chamber currently has the capacity to treat four seated patients or one seated and one lying plus an inside attendant.
A 185 mm medical lock provides easy access for small items during treatments.

Compressed air is provided to two independent air banks by two HP Baurer compressors.
Oxygen is provided by the Hospital liquid oxygen supply with a secondary backup of banked oxygen cylinders.
A Beta mix of 50/50 Heliox is provided by a bank of "G" size cylinders (used in 30 metres treatment tables).
The chamber is fitted with two B/W CCTV cameras as well as hard wire and infra red communications.
