The Burmese Cat Society of Australasia Inc
The Burmese Cat Society of Australasia Inc. was established in 1967 to promote and improve the welfare and breeding of Burmese cats by lectures, workshops, discussions, shows and exhibitions, and to aid and support all activities for the benefit and welfare of all cats. The Society is affiliated with the NSW Cat Fancier's Association and became an incorporated body in 1994. The Society welcomes members from all over the world. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the Society's objectives, whether or not they share their home with a Burmese, or any other breed of cat. The main event for the Society is its annual Burmese specialist show in Sydney each February. This show is open to all registered desexed and entire Burmese cats and kittens. Over 130 Burmese cats and kittens usually attend the Show to compete for the wonderful range of prizes. In addition the Society honours the top entire and desexed Burmese cats and kittens with it annual Burmese Cat/Kitten of the Year Awards. Points for the awards are won throughout the show season, and all Burmese owned by members of the Society are eligible to compete. The Society publishes a quarterly magazine full of informative bits and pieces about Burmese cats. The magazine aims to keep members fully informed of the Society's activities and also includes show results and the progress results for the Members Cat and Kitten of the Year awards. Members of the Society who breed Burmese can register their kittens for sale on our Kitten Register. The majority of our members are in Sydney, but we can provide access to breeders in other states of Australia. Contact me if you would like their number. The Society also runs a Cats in Distress fund for Burmese cats. As a result of this program sometimes we seek a loving home for an older Burmese. If you would like to have a Burmese as a companion, but dont particularly want a baby kitten, this may be the answer. You may even be able to get a cat that has been retired from breeding and is now looking for a home as a foot warmer on someone's bed.
