A cat is a puzzle for which there is no solution.

So what is a Burmese?

The Burmese cat is an elegant cat of foreign type: a medium sized cat with a muscular frame that is not as long and slender as the Siamese nor as heavily boned as the British Shorthair. Their body is hard and muscular, with a rounded chest and a straight back. They should feel heavier than they look, and often people are surprised when they first lift one.

Their heads are slightly rounded on top with a good width between the ears. The face displays wide cheekbones and then tapers to a short blunt wedge with a firm chin. The ears are medium in size, set wide apart and rounded at the tips.

Their legs are long and slender and in proportion to the body, with the hind legs slightly longer than the front. Their paws are neat and oval shaped.

The tail is medium in length, with a slight taper to a rounded tip.

Their coats are fine, sleek and glossy, lying close to the body. This coat is easy to care for, a simple pat is often enough to groom it.

Purrsonality Plus...

A Burmese cat is a wonderful friend and makes an excellent pet. While they make ideal companions for single people, they are good with other animals and children and certainly do not object to busy or noisy households.

They are an intelligent breed, and are very affectionate- in fact they just simply love people. They are companiable and sensitive to their owners' moods and feelings. They welcome visitors, looking on them as another person to become friends with.   Often dubbed the "dog of the cat world" you will find that this cat often acts more like a dog than a cat. You can easily leash train them and teach them to fetch, in fact often they teach you about the fetch game by bringing a toy back for you to throw over and over again.

The Burmese has a bouyant nature, but is also considered an elegant cat. You can be guaranteed of a bouncy welcome, and an able assistant to any task when you share your life with a Burmese.
