JACK FELDSTEIN:WRITER/PRODUCER/DIRECTOR/FILM MAKER
Jack is established as a digital animator, filmmaker, playwright, writer, script editor, series creator and lecturer in Sydney. His plays have been performed at the Ensemble Theatre, National Institute of Dramatic Arts, The Edge in Newtown, Sydney, The Malthouse in Melbourne, the Royalty Theatre (Adelaide) and presented at the Australian National Playwright’s Conference. He is known as a scriptwriter for various television shows and the creator of television series and interactive scriptwriter for internet 3d computer animation webisodes.
Several of his short stories have been published in BILLY BLUE and other literary magazines.
Jack’s journalistic articles have appeared in scientific magazines. His studies at NIDA, AFTRS, NYU exchange program and with DANNY SIMON, brother of Neil Simon, together with his experience working at NETWORK TEN, NETWORK SEVEN and WARNER BROTHERS have made him a leading professional in his field.
For 5 years, Jack was HEAD WRITER at BRILLIANT DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT where he was instrumental in developing interactive multipath animated series including ACE VENTURA with MORGAN CREEK, XENA-PRINCESS WARRIOR with UNIVERSAL, SUPERMAN with DC COMICS and SPIDERMAN.
As a lecturer, his CREATING A SITCOM course for professionals at the AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL of FILM, TELEVISION & RADIO, has proven very successful. And he tutored at the University of Western Sydney in linear and non linear scriptwriting.
Jack was also literary manager of Parnassus’ Den, a vibrant Sydney collective of hundreds of actors and writers whose aim is to develop new Australian theatre and film scripts.
He spoke on Interactive Scriptwriting at the Sydney Writer’s Festival. And taught a course at AFTRS in 2001.

Jack received the 1988 young Jewish Playwright’s Award for his first play A NEW YEAR.
In 1992, LUNAVISION won the Most Popular Film Award at the Toowoomba Film Festival.
In 1993, ZARA’S TALE won the Ethnic Affairs Award Prize.
In August 2000 he won the first prize of $5000 for his play A HOUSE LIKE ANY OTHER in a Queensland Education Department Diamond Jubilee National Playwrights’ Competition. A HOUSE LIKE ANY OTHER was also one of three finalists in The American Renegade Theatre (Los Angeles) International Playwriting Competition.
In 2001, his short film MENAGE A TROIS was a finalist in the Sydney Cinetap Short Film festival and was showcased on the web.
In 2001, his play THREE MONTHS WITH POOK was a finalist in the BBC International Playwrighting Competition. As an animated film it was a finalist in the Sydney International Animation and Effects Festival 2002 and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence.
Currently he is ranked by GOOGLE in the top 30 experimental online film-makers worldwide for his Neon films.
Jack was Publications Editor for Medical, Scientific and Pharmaceutical Literature in 1987-1990. He also worked as a copywriter at OMON advertising agency during that period. In 1996 and 1997, he co-wrote the DIGITAL COMPUTERS end of year presentation video. In 1998, the previous year’s video was highly commended at the Advertising Industry Awards.
He matriculated in Adelaide with straight A’s and completed a Bachelor in Pharmacy Degree at Sydney University. He worked as a community pharmacist for 3 years in Sydney’s Kings Cross and Darlinghurst before choosing to follow his vocation as a writer.
His studies in the world of visual media include the NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts) Playwright’s Course in 1990. In 1991, he undertook and graduated from the AFTRS (Australian School of Film, Television & Radio) post- graduate year in Scriptwriting.
In September 2002, his short film THE BADNESS was chosen to be centrepiece of an exhibition at the Tap Gallery, Darlinghurst, Sydney entitled BADNESS which marked the events of September 11th.
In October 2002, his short film THE MADNESS MONOLOGUE was chosen to be included in AUSFEST the National Video/Digital Festival in Brisbane. In 2003 his short film ROCK HARD was a finalist in Tropfest chosen for Best of the Rest.
In 2006, his neon film THE LOSER WHO WON was screened at Lincoln Centre in New York while THE ECSTASY OF GARY GREEN was chosen to be in competition for the Tiger awards for Short Film at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
It also received an Honourable Mention at the 2006 Melbourne International Animation Festival.
He has also been part of an exchange with The School of Dramatic Writing, New York University and undertaken master classes with Danny Simon, brother of playwright Neil Simon, in 1992. Early in 1993, Jack was invited to participate in the Sitcom Workshops run by John Vorhaus in association with NETWORK SEVEN.
He has assessed scripts for the South Australian Film Corporation and is fluent in French and German.
Brilliant Digital Entertainment sent him to New York in 1998 to teach writers at DC Comics about interactive scriptwriting for internet/CD Rom. He was script series editor for the Superman CD Rom/Internet series which was a co-production with Brilliant Digital Entertainment and DC Comics in New York.
While at Brilliant he was also involved in copywriting and corporate advertising on the internet.
