James Adams the son of Arthur Adams and Elizabeth Black, was born in 1813 at Tattykeel, N.Ireland. He married Matilda Crawford, daughter of David Crawford and Margaret Burns, in Sep 1836. The family arrived in Australia 9 Sep 1864 and settled on the Darling Downs . James was one of the largest property owners in the Geham-Crows Nest district. "Drumard" was named after his home in Ireland. Through marriage, well known district pioneer names were to be linked with this family. John married Matilda Stewart. Jim married Letitia Green of Drayton, bought a property at Geham and named it "Rosehill". Robert remained a bachelor. Elizabeth married John Munro. The Adams' were known for their excellent draught teams and fine cattle. James died on 18 Oct 1892.
