Joseph Black was born in 1782 Dunerean, Drummard, Armagh. He married Mary Andy in 1803 Armagh, N.Ireland. Joseph was listed as a tithe payer in Cloncore in 1833. The valuation records of 1864 show that a Joseph and Mary Anne Black held a house and land in the townland of Cloncore (1acre 35perch), and in the nearby townland of Derrykerran (2acre 1roood 10perch), on which the total annual valuation of rateable property was £2-10-0.
Their eldest son, Thomas was born in 1804. Thomas married Margaret Kingsborough on 20 Oct 1824 at Drumcree, Armagh. Thomas and Margaret emigrated on 24 Jan 1856 to Moreton Bay sailing from Dublin aboard "James Fernie". Thomas died on 16 Jun 1869 at Allora, Queensland.
