Eliza McNarry - Obituary

Mrs J Gallagher died Wednesday 1st March 1916. Born County Derry Ireland 56 (sic) years ago. She could claim a residence of 75 years in Queensland, nearly all spent in the Allora district. She came to Brisbane (Moreton Bay) with her husband in the sailing ship "British Empire" and travelled to Warwick vis Cunningham Gap by bullock dray. After a brief stay in Warwick moved to Allora to a farm on the Talgai Road (General Farming). Mr Gallagher who died 23 years ago, was one of the first to grow wheat in the district. Allora was still her home until about 3 years ago. She died at Killarney at her daughters residence Mrs F. Grayson.

She leaves two sons and 4 daughters. The sons W. and S. Gallagher (Allora) and daughters Mrs John Shannon (Allora), Mrs R. Carey (Sydney), Mrs F. Grayson (Killarney). One unmarried daughter lives in Sydney.
