On Sunday evening last, Mr. J. D. Hoy, jnr., a well-known and highly respected young resident of Shellharbour, breathed his last. For some years past he suffered from consumption, from the effects of which during the last few months he was confined to his home, where he died as stated above in the bloom of his manhood, his age being 23 years. He was for a lengthy period employed as a compositor on the staff of our comtemporary (sic), but was compelled to relinquish his duties owing to illhealth some 12 months ago. Deceased was a model young man; unobtrusive and sociable in his manner, a general favourite among the young people of the district, and a promising athlete. By his death the Shellharbour Cricket Club lose one of its most valued members; the district is bereft of a good citizen, and the parents will have cause to mourn the departure of one of whom any family might well be proud.
