News has been received of the death in England of Lieut.-Colonel Colvin Macfie, D.S.O., Mons Star, and French Legion of Honour, late of the Royal Engineers. Colonel Macfie has several times visited Australia, and spent some time in Brisbane in May last. He married a daughter of the late William Westgarth, well known in the early days of banking and commerce in Australia, and who afterwards took an active part in the covering of Australian loans in London. Col. Macfie went from Woolwich to the Royal Engineers, and served in the South African and Great War. His cousin Mr. F. Heussler, late of the Survey Department in Queensland, has received English papers announcing the passing of Colonel Macfie at the age of 60 years.
