"Junior Look"

An Original Painting by Janet Flinn
Watercolour
(Sold)

Immature Crimson Rosellas are often mistaken for a different species. Their juvenile plumage of sombre green gradually alters until they attain the deep velvety crimson adult plumage at about two years of age.

This painting was inspired by the sight of the young birds chattering softly together. They were well camouflaged amongst the casuarina foliage, softly lit by the late afternoon sunshine.
