The tiny 'Purple-crowned Lorikeets' are nomadic, following the flowering of eucalypts across southern Australia. Their beautifully coloured plumage serves well as camouflage, so they are heard, but rarely seen as they forage in the tree tops for blossoms, nectar and fruits.
