An Interview with Paul Briggs.....
Paul Briggs was kind enough to share some of thoughts, experiences and aspirations with the Australian Professional Boxing Site. Have a read and make up your own mind about his future.......

Australian Professional Boxing Page : Thanks Paul for taking the time to chat about your career.

Paul Briggs : that's OK.

APBP : You had much success as a kickboxer, can you tell me about your career?

Paul: I turned Pro at 15 World Champion at 19 years old. I spent 8 years as a pro fighting boxers from Australia, Thailand, Japan, NZ, Holland, Belgium, and Croatia. I loved my kickboxing but now it’s time for Paul Briggs to box.

APBP :  What led you to the switch from kickboxing to boxing?

Paul : Boxing was my first love from the age of 6 years old, so it’s a natural progression back and I’ve done it all in kickboxing.

APBP :  Are you going to fight as a kickboxer ever again?

Paul : Paul Briggs was a kickboxer and is now a boxer.

APBP :  Was there any difficulties adapting back to boxing?

Paul:  No, there we no difficulties adapting back.

APBP :  Tell me about your boxing and your thoughts on where you are at?

Paul : I’ve enjoyed every second so far, I’ve become fitter and sharper staying so active this year. With the way I train each fight gets easier, I put the work in and then some in the gym so that I can relax and enjoy my fights instead of making them hard work for myself.

APBP :  How would you describe your boxing styles?

Paul : Very adaptable but probably boxer come banger!!

APBP:  We have definitely seen that on some of your fights. Who is your inspiration/s and favorite boxers / kickboxers?

Paul :  My inspirations are John Wayne Parr and my son Isaiah. My favourite boxers are Prince Nassem and Oscar de la Hoya.

APBP: What are your short-term goals?

Paul : In the short term I want to be there best in Australian and  New Zealand and beat everyone that they offer me.

APBP : What are your longer-term goals?

Paul  : The Light Heavyweight Championship of the World and beat the best along the way.

APBP : What are your key ingredients to a successful night in the ring?

Paul :  Do the work in the gym and stay relaxed.

APBP : What do you enjoy doing outside of boxing/kickboxing?

Paul :  Time with my wife and friends but really I enjoy training and boxing a lot.

APBP :  Who are the fighters that appear on your 'I'm gonna fight him soon' list?

Paul :  Whoever steps up, Glen Kelly!!!

APBP : You suffered an early defeat against Larl Zada back in 1997, I have read that over-confidence as well as lack of training was the cause of that defeat is that true?

Paul : As far as my only loss is concerned, my head was not on the job. I didn’t train properly and the result is that I’ve learnt more from that loss than from my last 5 KO’s.

APBP : How did you get the name Hurricane'?

Paul: My father gave me the name when I was 14 years old because I used to move like Rubin Carter - I didn’t even know who he was  until I was about 18.

APBP : You seem to be fighting between Cruiser and Light-heavy, which is your preferred weight?

Paul: I will be campaigning only as a Light Heavyweight which I am a natural. Cruiserweights guys are just to big for me normally so Lt. Heavy it is.

APBP : Thanks again to you  for taking some time out for the interview. Good luck in the future and I hope you keep winning.

Paul : No problem.
