Margot Smith Article
excerpt from 'Inpress' magazine article Wednesday December 9th 1998 .
MARGOT SMITH - Bleedmore (Immersion/Phantom) Margot's first single since 1993, lifted from the excellent current album "Taste", shows how far you can go with good songs and a teensy budget. "Bleedmore" is an unconventional single - its low-key atmospherics and muted groove are the antithesis of radio pop, which is precisely the point. Addictive without being obvious, it's a refreshing single that takes risks and survives. Also included here are two expertly recorded live tracks from an Espy gig last October, and a completely out-there cut-and-paste remix of the a-side that, like the lead track, sounds best in headphones. |
