THE INSTRUCTOR
Mark has certainly
'been on both sides of the competition fence.' He has been a successful State
Competitor since the early eighties and now coaches his own Australian Kenseikan
Team which regularly competes in Japan. Mark himself prefers the older
style of karate training,preferring to 'bring back the old ways' of true karate -
jutsu, more than the sporting
side but continues to coach those members who are keen on that aspect. Although Mark is now
the Chief Instructor of Kenseikan, he continues to visit Japan and enjoys the
very close friendship of Ohno Sensei (Goju-Ryu) and Yasuzato Sensei (Shobukan)
In past years, Mark has been fortunate to have trained and or graded under a
number of Japanese Sensei such as Tanaka, Konishi, Yamazaki, Sumi and Takeda. Mark's
first Karate Sensei was in fact his Brother Lee (Shotokan). 1972 was the
"beginning of the rest of his life" as Mark says, it was then the
mould began to take shape. Having no knowledge of karate, in fact it was rather
at a time when karate enjoyed a 'mystical' aura. The
early days of instruction under Lee Sensei, was extremely hard, in line with
most styles of that era. Mark and Lee both started Judo at the local
Police Boys' club in their early teens. Since the

Mark Passmore has a diverse and wealth of
experience and knowledge dealing with and relating to people in all areas.
Having worked both in the building trade ( plumbing ) and hospitality industry,
as well as holding a 6th Dan in Karate, weapons Instructor (Kobudo) ,TAFE
(Technical And Further Education) Teacher, and Critical Incident Management
co-ordinator.

are numerous to include, sections on Kobudo, The Law and Karate, Digestive System, Medical implications of karate blows,
Children and Karate, Throws, Locks and Manipulation, Grading syllabus up to 4th Dan, around 26
Kata, 4 Kobudo kata, Dojo First Aid, Anatomy, Body muscles and Ligaments, Vital
organs, and functions, Terminology, and Dojo etiquette.
