A view of our Kennel Complex and grass Runs

Let us introduce ourselves – Bruce & Vicki Knight of Southern River in Western Australia.  We are a small kennel into showing, training and breeding German Shepherd Dogs.  We are committed members of the German Shepherd Dog Association of Western Australia, and have for many years served on various Obedience and Show committees within the club.  In 1999, Bruce was nominated for the position of President of the Association and was successfully elected.  He was re-elected in 2000 and again in 2001.

In March, 2002 Bruce successfully nominated for the position of Treasurer of The German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia - a very busy position which encompasses the whole of Australia's management issues concerning the German Shepherd Dog. Hence, in July, 2002 he handed over the responsibilities of President of Western Australia. In February 2006, Bruce's nomination for the position of President of the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia was successful, and he was voted in almost unanimously across the country as the New Australian President.

I (Vicki) continue to 'work' for the Breed in our own state of Western Australia both as the State Registrar for Breed Survey and as the Hip & Elbow State Registrar (includes Hereditary Diseases portfolio).

Our involvement with this magnificent breed dates back to 1989, when both Bruce and myself (Vicki) each bought our first GSD.  Like most people, we started off, doing obedience, taking several dogs to Companion Dog Excellent, Agility Dog and Endurance Dog Titles.  Then we started to toy with the idea of showing.  We began doing the “rounds”, a couple of Australian Nationals, Australian Main Breed Shows, and even a trip to Germany for the Sieger Show, helping to develop our “eye” for a good dog.  We tried in vain to buy a foundation bitch at several of the aforementioned shows.  But we found that the good ones are not only hard to breed, but hard to buy!  We persevered, and finally managed to buy Turnberry Highland Rose Bscl1 AZ at 11 ˝ months, Duval Verv Clico Bscl1 AZ as an 8 week old Baby and finally Bluebell von Arminius Bscl1 aZ from Germany.  These three bitches gave us a lot of fun and success in the show ring. From there, we bred our own Bruvic Anuschka from a leased arrangement for her mother, Duval Latest Love. And further purchased as a 3 year old, Adelora Remy as a successful show and brood bitch.  Bluebell von Arminius gave us Bruvic Bobbys Basko AZ Bscl11, Boss AZ Bscl1 and Bienchen AZ Bscl1 from our imported litter and later Bruvic Dot Com AZ Bscl1, from a coupling with Iwan vom Lechtal. In 2005, she gave us her final offering via Leishjaclyn Zpartacus in Bruvic Noblesse Oblige.
